Col Hemant Achyut Joshi is an alumnus of the Indian Military Academy Dehradun and has served in the Corps of Engineers in various operational and administrative capacities for 30 years. Trained by Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR), New Delhi, he is a qualified analyst of human behaviour and evaluator of personality profile of candidates seeking selection in the Indian Armed Forces.
Col Hemant Achyut Joshi has served as Senior Group Testing Officer at 19 Services Selection Board (SSB) at Prayagraj and 32 Services Selection Board (SSB) at Kapurthala (Jallandhar). It was his vast experience and expertise in 19 SSB that he was handpicked by Army in 2015 to be part of raising team for the Selection Centre North at Kapurthala where he not only employed his engineering skills to steer the project but also designed and oversaw the construction of GTO ground. During his long stint as a GTO, he has assessed more than 15000 candidates to judge their suitability to function as an officer in the Indian Armed Forces.
During his vast service, he has served on all Indian Borders including LC and LAC, commanded Army Engineer units, and participated in various counter insurgency operations. He led an air lifted Flood Relief Column during Surat floods in 2006. He has also commanded NCC Battalion at Ahmedabad and Latur where he constantly guided and motivated NCC cadets to face SSB. It was his initiative to construct a GTO ground at NCC Group HQ Ahmedabad for the benefit of NCC cadets. Umpteen number of cadets have been benefitted by his guidance and succeeded at SSB.
In his distinguished service, he has been awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card (Twice), Central Army Commander Commendation Card and DGBR Commendation Card.
Born at Sangli, Col Hemant Achyut Joshi has been a topper in his Bachelor of Engineering from SGGSIE&T, Nanded. He completed M Tech from IIT Roorkee with 8.941 CGPA. He has also completed MBA (Human Resource Development) in first division from IGNOU. He holds a Diploma in Senior Level Defence Management. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and a Chartered Engineer.
